Named after the wealthy landowner and politician, Colonel E. Oscar Bickford, Bickford Park has been an important community at the heart of Toronto since 1908. At that time, the Colonel’s widow Emily A. Bickford, sold the property they owned to the City of Toronto, thus beginning the construction that would soon become the neighborhood of Bickford Park. Notable buildings such as the Bob Abate Rec Center (built in 1913), and the Bickford Center add a sense of active community to the area, with parks and pools for public use. In addition, every June the village holds festival days for residents to explore and try the different shops, foods, and enjoy musical entertainment.
Bickford Park Toronto features many homes available near popular recreational centres and schools. The Victorian-style homes in this neighbourhood were built between 1880 and 1930, with two to three-storey detached and semi-detached housing options available. Many homes have a great view of Bickford Park’s gardens and mature trees, and are nestled on one-way streets, allowing residents to avoid the heavy traffic usually found in downtown areas.
Many buyers prefer to look at housing near Bickford Park’s many shopping centers and restaurants; such as the Little Italy shopping center, Harbor Street for local shoppers, and Bloorcourt Village.
